Even while we love solar lights, we do recognize that they may be really problematic for certain individuals. If you’re struggling with yours then try out a couple of our handy tips to see if you can get them working again.

1. Check that they’re turned on
You'd be shocked at how often people use their lights' on/off switch without realizing it (not all of them do).

2. Verify that the battery doesn't have a pull tab.
Only recently acquired lights will be affected by this. On occasion, a pull tab on the battery has to be removed in order for the light to turn on. Check this immediately if your new light isn't working.

3. Cover the panel to test the light
Solar-powered lights often don't operate throughout the day. You will need to totally cover the solar panel to imitate darkness in order to test the light's functionality.

4. Ensure the solar panel is clean
The quantity of charge received may be impacted by a dirty panel. See our cleaning instructions for solar panels.

5. Verify that the solar panel is properly positioned.
The panel should be placed such that it receives sunshine for the most of the day (or the whole day), otherwise it could not be getting enough charge. Does working solar lighting need direct sunlight?

6. If at all feasible, test using standard batteries
The batteries are often at blame when solar-powered lights don't function. Either they are not holding it or they are not receiving charge. If the lights function with regular batteries, it is obvious that the solar panel or the rechargeable batteries are the cause of the issue.

7. Turn off and let your device charge for 72 hours
By leaving many solar-powered lights off, you actually give the battery time to fully charge over many days of sunshine. Many solar-powered lights will continue to charge even if they are not in use. Using solar lights to accomplish this on a regular basis is a good idea.

8. Speak with the merchant
If everything else fails, get in touch with the store where you bought your lights. We provide a 12-month warranty on each of our lamps. So, if you’ve tried the above steps and bought your lights from us within the last 12 months contact us or view our full returns policy.
